Salt dolls
Self is there but only like a salt doll which will merge with the ocean inevitably. Trying to get rid of oneself is as ridiculous as a salt doll doing all kinds of things and trying all kinds of techniques to merge with the ocean while whether it does something or not soon enough the ocean and the doll are one without any possible difference whatsoever.
There is no salt doll, just salt formed like a doll. You are not that different are you? Just water, fire, earth, air, flesh and bones forming a body, what are you?
Eventually it will have to merge with the earth.
So actually we are like salt dolls doing everything we can to matter, to create permanence from and as something impermanent so that we keep existing. But do we exist as a separate individual in the first place?
Right now? What is for certain is that there is reading happening, but can you really find a reader? If your listening to music or are gonna watch TV where are the listener and watcher? Which are you? Do you keep changing? If your honest you can find all kinds of things you are impermanently but never something that is really lasting, or maybe you do but what is you, the permanent you?
What are you really? What is permanent? Non-dualists call it Self, Buddha said non-Self, both are true cause it has both nothing to do with the individual and what it does or doesn't do. Something which isn't a thing with any quality at all is there when all appearances of the mind and the mind itself disappear, when what you consider yourself to be is gone without a trace, one might call this the true Self beyond Self or non-Self, better to be totally silent about it...
Any description makes you try to find it and get to it while the you itself that tries to get there is left uninvestigated. Can tell you that there is no self or a Self but you have to find out for yourself in everyday ordinary life. Although it is never about doing anything different than what is already happening but only about observing if there is an individual there doing all that your doing, where is your permanent self? What is it? What is your original face? Before the belief in a self started... Look, when did it begin?

Re: Just water, fire, earth, air, flesh and bones forming a body, what are you?
Jim: I am living presence/essence but mostly indescribable aliveness which as close as I can come to putting my self into words for now.
Re: But do we exist as a separate individual in the first place?
Jim: I don’t know who or what this “we” is but I am not a separate, individual. I just happen to have such a thing.
Re: Right now? What is for certain is that there is reading happening, but can you really find a reader?
Jim: Yes, I am the reader who is reading this item.
Re: If your listening to music or are gonna watch TV where are the listener and watcher?
Jim: they are right here in this room.
Re: Which are you?
Jim: I am both the listener and the watcher.
Re: Do you keep changing?
Jim: No, not very much unless I shift in my chair or go for a drink in the kitchen.
Re: If your honest you can find all kinds of things you are impermanently but never something that is really lasting, or maybe you do but what is you, the permanent you? What are you really?
Jim: I am both the impermanent me/self and the permanent me/self depending on how I observe or describe my self. The permanent me is this unchanging Presence/Aliveness, which is just about as close as I can come to describing my self for now.
re: What is permanent?
Jim: Timeless Presence.
Re: Non-dualists call it Self, Buddha said non-Self, both are true cause it has both nothing to do with the individual and what it does or doesn't do. Jim: Why the need to be “silent” about my self? I am that I am! Life living. Being being. This. What is. (Silence).
Re: Although it is never about doing anything different than what is already happening but only about observing if there is an individual there doing all that your doing, where is your permanent self?
Jim: My permanent self is right here (along with an apparent individual who seems to be doing some – not all - things).
Re: What is it?
Jim: I am Consciousness/Awareness.
Re: What is your original face?
Jim: My original face is not a face at all but Eternal Experience experiencing itself.
Re: Before the belief in a self started... Look, when did it begin?
Jim: I do not currently remember.
Jim: I am living presence/essence but mostly indescribable aliveness which as close as I can come to putting my self into words for now.
words are nice but when there were non before you still were right?
Jim: I don’t know who or what this “we” is but I am not a separate, individual. I just happen to have such a thing.
Ok what has it? Dont tell me, find it and stay there.
Jim: Yes, I am the reader who is reading this item.
Or is reading just happening without a reader? Look closely at this assumption, find this reader, where is it exactly?
Jim: they are right here in this room.
Where? What knows the room?
Jim: I am both the listener and the watcher.
Ok great but what is this I am?
Jim: No, not very much unless I shift in my chair or go for a drink in the kitchen.
So you are the ever changing body? Are you in control of all its functions? Are you growing the nails and hairs? Beating your heart? Digesting your food? Every cell in your body is totally regenerated every 7 years meaning you have called a totally different body you, should not you always be the same?
Jim: I am both the impermanent me/self and the permanent me/self depending on how I observe or describe my self. The permanent me is this unchanging Presence/Aliveness, which is just about as close as I can come to describing my self for now.
Alright but where is this I you speak of? Dont answer with the mind first look for it.
Jim: Why the need to be “silent” about my self? I am that I am! Life living. Being being. This. What is. (Silence).
Did not say you need to be silent, just meant it cannot be described. I am that I am is a great saying but is it known always?
Jim: My original face is not a face at all but Eternal Experience experiencing itself.
Eternal experience?experiences come and go, look for what has them, what is there when experience is not?
Jim: I do not currently remember.
Find out, there was a moment you became identified as a separate entity thinking your not good enough anymore as you are.
re: Dont tell me, find it and stay there.
jim: OK.
words are nice but when there were non before you still were right?
… Who or what is the “you” in this question and who or what is asking the question?
Ok what has it?
… Who/what is asking this question?
Dont tell me, find it and stay there.
…. who/what is the “me” in this directive? What is the “it” in the directive and what is supposed to stay where?
Or is reading just happening without a reader?
… Who/what wants to know?
Look closely at this assumption, find this reader, where is it exactly?
… Who/what is offering this instruction (Look closely…..find this….) and who/what is asking the question about where it is?
Where? What knows the room?
… Who/what is asking these questions?
Ok great but what is this I am?
…Who/what wants to know?
So you are the ever changing body?
… Who/what is asking this? Who/what is the “you” in the question?
Are you in control of all its functions? Are you growing the nails and hairs?
… Who/what is asking these two questions and who/what is the “you” in the two questions?
Beating your heart? Digesting your food?
… Who/what is asking?
Every cell in your body is totally regenerated every 7 years meaning you have called a totally different body you, should not you always be the same?
….Who is the “you” in the question? Who/what is asking this?
Alright but where is this I you speak of?
… Who/what is asking? Who is the “you” in the question?
Dont answer with the mind first look for it.
…Who/what is making this request?
Did not say you need to be silent, just meant it cannot be described.
… Who or what “Did not say…..”? Who/what “just meant…..”? Who is the “you” in the statement?
I am that I am is a great saying but is it known always?
… Who/what is asking? Who or what is the “I” in the statement?
Eternal experience?
…Who/what is asking?
experiences come and go,
… Who/what is making this statement?
look for what has them, what is there when experience is not?
…. Who/what is being asked to “look for what has them” and who/what is asking the question?
Find out,
… Who is requesting this?
there was a moment you became identified as a separate entity thinking your not good enough anymore as you are.
… Who is the “you” that “became identified as a separate entity, etc.”?
Look for this who instead of asking me, look without thinking about it. When a stream of thoughts came and has ended where did it go? Look...
Look for this who instead of asking me, look without thinking about it.
.. Who/what is the "me" in this directive? Is there some problem with clearly identifying your self?
When a stream of thoughts came and has ended where did it go?
... It goes back to nothing or emptiness or whatever unique word/term is currently fashionable (in life). Who/what is posing this question? Are you a ghost, phantom, invisible, no-thing, everything, no-self, all, emptiness? What are you? Tony Parsons once said to an unhappy interviewer "This is wholeness talking to separation." Are you wholeness? Is this separation talking to wholeness?
Whats the point in these word games? You want nice descriptions, someone to prove it, to say something so perfect that just like that you get it, ''he said this, she said that blabla. Of course these words are separate thinking minds babling like a flowing river, but are we really this? No it is noticed, and no I dont ssay I am the noticer this comes and goes too, no witnesser without a witnessed and vice versa.
Wholeness cant speak or another perspective would be any word ever uttered is the wholeness speaking. Anyway cant identify me cause anything that can be comes and goes, anything that can be pointed at or described is not you therefore. So once again look before thinking about how it should be or what is said by someone, yes I and someone is still used cause normal functioning goes on, nothing changes at all for the individual, no me and wholeness are two sides of the same coin. So the I in I am That hasnt got a thing to do with what you call me and just says I as the one point everything began at is one with That or everything already, which cant be known by an individual or made to happen, like a shadow or a reflection cant do a thing to change or improve itself let alone dispel itself. Its like already being one with the universe trying with all your might to become one with the universe or see that there is no self, as in you cant do it, i didnt do it, no one has....
Whats the point in these word games?
…To help see the truth.
You want nice descriptions, someone to prove it, to say something so perfect that just like that you get it, ''he said this, she said that blabla.
… I am gaining a very clear and real perspective from Tony Parsons and Lisa Kahale,s videos because they are liberated and are able to describe their experience.
Of course these words are separate thinking minds babling like a flowing river, but are we really this?
… You tell me! What are you/we – really?
No it is noticed, and no I dont ssay I am the noticer this comes and goes too, no witnesser without a witnessed and vice versa.
… There is no “I” or “me”. There is only ?????? (being, existence, life)
Wholeness cant speak or another perspective would be any word ever uttered is the wholeness speaking.
… Agreed. Are you that wholeness?
Anyway cant identify me cause anything that can be comes and goes, anything that can be pointed at or described is not you therefore.
… Because you are nothing …. living nothing.
Its like already being one with the universe trying with all your might to become one with the universe or see that there is no self, as in you cant do it, i didnt do it, no one has....
…There is no one and no I to do anything. All there is, is life existing, with no individual self anywhere.
Cant say what I am, that is just another concept. Yes they can describe their experience but if its experienced there is no need to listen to anyones descriptions or concepts. Look for the changeless by ignoring/forgetting about all that changes, meaning even the body which was identified as I [which is the start of mind/thoughts] is already totally replaced, so you are neither, all that is noticed isnt you either cause it is also impermanent/transitory, everything is a reflection of the only changless, look for this, without you doing the looking allow everything to be exactly how it is without you doing the allowing, be without trying to be, you cant become what you are already... What did everything when there was no sense of a me?
re: What did everything when there was no sense of a me? I did! Now, how to adequately describe that "I" is yet another task in itself. I like your last comment and will try to use the suggestions/pointers in it. You seem both wise and "enlightened" and it's a pleasure to meet and converse with you. Respectfully yours, jim :)
Dont bother describing its impossible :) Try it till it is seen that what you are cant do it but still that which always is can be felt as bliss but the thing to realise is that what is I or Self or whatever name or word it can be given is what your looking from, that which knows... of being conscious, dreaming or even deep sleep, of bliss, pleasure or pain. Nisargadatta called it prior to consciousness which just cant ever be known or reached cause that would mean being at a distance from yourself...
Well enlightened Me is totally beyond wise or unwise, me or you or anybody else ;) One without a second is for real...
One without a second is for real...
