Examine appearances like thoughts

Where do thoughts come from when they have arisen?…

Where do they reside when they have come?…

Where have they gone when they have disappeared?…

In the same way when appearances have come where have they  come from?…

Where do they stay?… Where do they go?…

What about you? Where do you come from when you have arisen in the morning?…

Where do you reside when you have come?…

Where do you go to when sleep takes over?…

Where have you appeared from when you were born?…

Where do you reside when your alive?…

Where will you go when your dead?…

Where does consciousness come from when it appears?…

Where does consciousness stay when it has appeared?…

Where does consciousness disappear to when it goes away?…

To take this even further where did the whole universe, visible and invisible, come from right after the big bang?…

Where does it reside in after the big bang?…

Where will it disappear to at the end of the kalpa or big crunch?…

Have you found the thoughts? The you? Where they reside in?Psst you can't.

Do you or thoughts actually exist in the first place?… If they couldn't be found…

Does anything?… What is real should last forever, does anything? Ultimately? The question real or unreal becomes redundant… It is real in the eye of the beholder, if the beholder itself is not found… Then there is nothing more to say…

Look in this wy…

Just thinking and sensing, no self.

Thinking that is the thing to look into, look at thinking itself, are you doing it?

Really focus your attention on this, when a stream of thought has started (did you do that?) does thought build up an actual I or a self in any way or does it just make it seem that way?

Not where it comes from, not stopping them or even having only peaceful thought or something, that is all unrelated to seeing no self, just simple, do thoughts represent a self?

Do all of the thoughts you ever had now represent a self? If it does where is it now?

Look at this because nothing, not anything anyone has ever written itself can ever make one see this without actually looking. Is it an untested assumption that a self is really there? Or is there really a self there separating you from the whole of life?

Same with observing, is there an observer? Are you doing this observing or is just that, the observation, without an observer doing the observing?

A way to test this is just closing the eyes not doing anything else and a noticing that observing just goes on, nobody doing it, just seeing of blackness, no you seeing the blackness.

Then with open eyes see everything appearing, nothing fancy. So everything is seen, is a separate you in it? Has there ever been an actual separate self having your experience or was there just experiencing, no experiencer there at all in reality?

Isn't it always like this: First experience and only then thoughts about it saying it is good or bad and everything in between? Seeing, hearing, touching, tasting and smelling, thoughts about it which could be followed by emotion, nothing more?

Notice can you see the emotions anger or fear directly? Is anything there behind it having it? Anyone there having it?

Look is there a seer, hearer, toucher, taster, smeller, someone having emotion or just emotion coming up, staying for thee uninvited then subsiding again?

Does sensing happen because you are doing it or does it just happen by itself? Can you turn it on or off in general like a light switch? When falling asleep it is just suddenly gone, but do you really decide the exact moment? Like your not actually falling asleep you literally disappear, actually also not really like that cause there is no one to disappear in the first place, see?

Everything is there, seeming others, houses, nature, world, stars, galaxies, universe, just no you anywhere, is it true? Is a self needed for anything in nature, animals, atoms? Why would you be any different?

No method

No method, not even no method used as a method by an assumed separate individual can bring him to what is alone real.

What one really is one already is before anything appeared, would it not be futile to try to become what one already is before anything appeared with that which appeared?

An appeared body cannot sense the infinite, an appeared mind cannot understand or know the infinite which alone always is, no matter what it comes up with.

So do not take anything that is ever said as something you think you are must do something with.

Not any form of meditation or connecting or contemplation will make any difference, you cannot become what you never stopped being. There is just Being, no one to do it.

There is no self here, in the illusion that once appeared and will go, yet you cannot really ever deny that there is existing, it is existence alone, that which never comes or goes which now and again appears as if becoming all this, it is That which has experienced every waking moment, dream moment and the end of experiences of deep sleep, and your body posture right now, the words your currently reading and the thoughts about them, all the senses that perceive or constitute the world are experienced by You, know this thoughtless Knowledge.

Only You exist like only the rope exists when you think you see a snake, only sand and heat are there when you think your seeing water if you happen to be in the dessert seeing a mirage.

There is really totally no self right now, look for yourself!

So this blog is a part of a blog roll on the premise of no-self for the website: www.liberationunleashed.com I have mostly written about non-duality after seeing happened, one of them is now only writing about food and recipes which is also non-duality if you stretch it very far ;-) Anyway so I did see there is no-self in experience at all when I was staring out of my window, which went like: "So there is no-self let me check that out finally and once and for all right now! So seeing, hearing touching tasting smelling is happening right now whether I choose to or not, so how can eyes, ears, skin, nose actually be me in itself, how amazing! I mean if you are some-thing you should actually have control over it right? So on I went, I heard and felt my stomach roaring, so in direct experience, I did not control the whole digestion including chewing, after all when you put food in when it's time to eat chewing just starts and you don't control that exactly (check that out). When the food has turned to waste it eventually has to come out and it will whether you like it or not. Filtering the liquids you take in just happening, when the bladder is too full it will come out in the end whether you like it or not. Are you still with me here? Hairs, fingernails and skin is growing all by itself. Breathing will go on by itself, you don't really decide how the air goes in (deep, shallow, rate) and out and during sleep it just goes on. Thoughts about every experience you have and about others come up spontaneously without consciously doing that, thinking happens... All of that seen to be true in direct experience, do I exist itself behind all that controlling it all? NO, so they are right, totally right, how amazing! And this is true for all those people on their bikes(I live in the (Netherlands) and the drivers of those cars. They have a destination but how they get there is going quite unconsciously and is not really in their hands, it just flows, also they did not decide what they wanted at the time they did, so what is true here is true for others.
But only reading this won't do in this process, it only comes alive when tested and seen in your own direct experience of life. So the only goal of this blog post is to get you to at least thoroughly test this out for yourself at a point in life, another advice is to not read another spiritual or life altering text without actually testing it out for yourself in actual experience without prejudice if it is true. Ciaran Healy, the one who was the start of this process through the precursor site of Liberation Unleashed called Ruthless Truth, always said to really test things out, to figuratively put on a pair of glasses of no-self to have an actual honest look how things would be if they indeed were totally true, taking that perspective, looking at it from all angles, seriously looking true those lenses and then taking them of so to speak and then look if it could really be true already but you just never really looked at it that way. Also good if you are arguing with somebody all the time spent a minute in their shoes, imagine maybe they are right or at least you understand them better. Do that for a while with this blog post, really walk around with those goggles and in those shoes of no-self, like a scientist… Is it true?

There is no you AND ...

There is no you and ... the now, there is only the now and everything that's happenig now.

There is no you and ... others, we are all in the same boat, no one good or bad, high or low, enlightened or unenlightened, free or bound.

There is no you and ... thoughts, there is only what's happening right now, including thoughts about what's happening right now.

There is no you, nothing is separate, full stop, look in the direct experience of right now, is there something there separated from life doing all that? Aren't thoughts, body functions and actions happening whether you think about them or not? Look, not such a big deal, life flows on like it always has whether there is identification with anything or not...

If you read this look here right now, there is guidance by seeming others to look together if the above is just belief or already true in the immediacy of right now:

No self means non-duality means there is no self at all, in real life, here and now

No self means non-duality means there is no self at all, in real life, here and now. No one in control of thoughts, feelings, actions, experiences, life as a whole and awareness just are, your not the separate controling person the thoughts seem to create.
If there is the feeling you need to see this for yourself there is a lot that can be said about it but eventually its gonna have to be seen if this is true in the normality [or abnormality] of everyday life. Looked at the simplicity of it, asked what would [need to] change if this were true?

Sit, let go of the need to control or change anything that is, was, or will be. Thought will flow, allow it no matter the content, look, notice everything that happens, from the body functioning, pain, breathing, everything around you, thoughts about that or what was, is, shall be or should be. Where are you in all of this?

Doesn't it all just happen? Without a you in control? Aren't it just the thoughts after the fact of what is that make it seem that things happen to someone separate from life? Allow focus on this, can this be seen?

The mind

You know yourself[body], the world[universe] and others through the mind which enterprets the senses, right? These sense are in fact nothing other than extensions of the mind and are impermanent (as the mind is). And even more importantly everything you are aware of takes place in the mind.

So where is the mind in deep sleep? Arn't you by definition that which is there always? Look for that which is always there.

So the mind and everything it is aware of is impermanent, look for the eternal I can say.

But not anything I say can make you see what this blog points to, you need to see it for yourself!

Thoughts are there almost all the time, what is their source?

Are you in control?

Thoughts will always say there is more, more to realise, more to enlightenment. Which can only happen now, now and now, meaning it is a continuous process and not a moment in the future for a separate person!

This is it!

Nothing is ever really yours

Nothing is ever really yours, not even the body(and its pains) and the mind(and its thought loops), just life, nothing more. This blog is not really mine, course it seems to be, typed by this body/mind in this room on this computer.

I mean look, are you doing that reading or are it just the eyes going over the letters and the brain interpreting it? No separate controlling entity Stephen Wingate says, there is the thought here ''and he is right'' is he? Did I control that thought coming right at this particular moment? Just after I decided to turn this latest thing the mind came up with around this topic into a blogpost, just a coincidence.

Still need to think about where I want to go with this as now words are popping up in the mind and being typed by the hand without any control, as with all the words typed on this blog and anyone elses and anything ever typed, conscious of this or not.

From very little on you are constantly taught that you are a separate individual, responsible for your actions and reactions, are we? Well how many times in life have you said or done something where immediately after or later you think ''Did I say that (out loud)?'' or ''Did I do that?''. That talking and that action happen totally involuntarily and without intention right? Then could it not be so always?

That after everything thought, said, done, sensed, felt or experienced, thought comes in and labels it as my thought, my words, my action, my sensation, my fear/sadness/happiness or my experience?

Is all the stuff around you yours or just stuff? You might have bought it or created it still it is just matterial, protons, neutrons, strings, quarks all that jazz. Just like the body is built up out of stuff, mostly elements. Are you the elements? Are you the separate body parts? The limbs? Torso? Head? Intestins? Lungs? Heart? How are you then all of this together?

Maybe this little exercise will help see what I mean:

''Step 1
Take a look in front of you right now. Choose an object in the field of view and describe it in your mind. Note color, size, shape, texture. Try to describe everything about what you see.

Write out the description for me here, please.

Part 2
While still looking at that object, think about the last movie you really enjoyed watching. See a scene in your mind, and describe it. Don't tell me the title yet ;) But keep looking at the object.
Write out a very brief description here.

Part 3
Try describing the object and the movie at the same time, and watch the thoughts. Do they happen simultaneously, or one at a time? Are you able to think about both at once or is there a sequence?
Try to think two thoughts at the same time.

Write out a very brief description of what happened when you did this exercise.

Take the time, really do this as thoroughly as possible, or don't do it at all. Go for it ;)

Do the exercise with the body. Look at the hands without the thought, "my hands". For a second or two, let the "my" thoughts fall away. Then, look at the legs without the thought, "my legs". Just gaze at them. See how they exist even without the "me" or "my" thoughts, and how nothing about reality changes one bit without those thoughts.

Bring yourself back to thoughts of "my hands", then repeat the exercise a few times. Look at them without thought, then bring the thought back in.

What happens to the body without the thoughts? Can you say what the object even is? Does it "belong" to anything? Does it continue to exist in physical reality?''

If you want to, send me your answer and we can look into this.

One more thing to say: It has been said by Ramana Maharshi and others that the observer, observing and the observed are one. And although I neither agree nor disagree I would like to ask you if there really is an observer? And if so how you are it? And if so how you are doing it? Do you snap your fingers and stop observing/noticing?

There is only the Self/That/Life/Awareness/Consciousness are ways of putting it, but why add ''and you are that''? Isn't that redundant and just another way of holding on to having an identity? Nothing ever really yours...

Life

Just life.......................................................................................................................

Could end this blogpost right here and it would say what is intended. Look at that statement ''just life...'' is anything excluded from it? Think real hard...

Can you think of anything? Let me know if you do!

Life, nothing separated from it, do you agree?

Just like nature, the universe or existence, what is there separate from that, you?

So no self or anatta as the Buddhas say(look it up for a better understanding of what this blog is about) coupled to impermance[everything that is impermant is non-self] and suffering[because of impermanence there is suffering]. ''No self'' and ''only life'' are two sides of the same coin, a double edged sword so to speak.

Both need to be seen as the actual truth in real life before any difference is noticed. Most people interested in non-duality stop at the first insight, identify with a non-dual consciousness or higher self and discuss about it all day rather than checking what the implications are.

An important distinction to be made in what is meant by no self is that it does not mean I am no self and not even I have no self and you do no it means no I there to have a self or not. No self anywhere at all in all eternity! Nothing to remove, hold on to or (dis)identify with...

Then an invitation if you want to see if what this blog points out really is true and want an appearing other to help you see this go to the brand new Liberation Unleashed site this blog is now part of and specially the Lliberation Nation Forum register open up a topic and start asking questions and someone already seeing this will respond and start pointing, although there is no separation.

Stalemate

Once I was watching a movie called Mr. Nodody about a man who, looking back over his life's experiences, finds out he doesn't exist at all, and never did.

After this realisation he mentions to his interviewer that he also does not exist and has no more moves to make, that he's stalemate (a situation in chess where a player has no more moves he can make without putting the king in danger, so the game is over).

This really struck a chord with me at the time, then still trying to become something like enlightened or self-realised, having tried and tried everything I heard from Ramana Maharshi and the like which eventually did not give me any lasting samadhi state or whatshemacallit.

I then saw that there really is no point in doing anything to become something other than you already are, cause as they say you already are That because all is That. A state of bliss remained...

But of course it did not last, as it never does and never will!

Why am I so sure of this? Well what is realised now is that what there was felt there at the end of that movie is that there really is no me other than a bunch of preferences and memories. There was bliss, but not for someone, only the realisation: "There is no I to have or gain anything at all, not even the bliss or the happiness that has been sought for".

So can it be seen? Stalemate! No more moves left to make to gain "enlightenment" cause there is nobody there to own it!

Yes that is very much possible for litterally everyone.

How? No doing here [who would be doing the doing if there is nobody there to do it?], just see if there is anyone there in all experiences of the day doing them or if there is just experience there?

"Of course there is! I am making the decisions you moron!" You might be thinking now, but was this assumption ever thoroughly tested?

Where is it? Is it in the mind? No, it is not constantly there [dreamless sleep, unconsciousness, during orgasm] so cannot really be you. Is it in the body? No, there is no control of any body function, that just happens.

But I am deciding what I like and what I do, right? Well if you do should it not be the case in everything that you take action on? But is this really always the case? Does this you always decide what there is done?

Also in an emergency, when a split second decides between life and death? Are you doing the action to save your or somebody elses life? Or is it just happening? No thought, no mind or I there huh?

Well you decide, see it or don't!
